Football fights for playoffs, aims for district title

Bruin football pushes against a tough schedule this season to reach playoffs. The team ran into a bump on the road to districts when they lost to Blue Springs South Oct. 21.  Football coach AJ Ofodile said the game should have ended differently.
“We lost [the football game] 35-20. I thought we we’re going to win because we are the better team,” Ofodile said “There were too many mental errors and several specific plays, but I wouldn’t begin to start calling people out individually on things. [It’s either a] team win, team loss so we had several individual plays that hurt our calls, but overall there’s nothing I would point out specifically.”
Ofodile is optimistic about RBHS’ game against Blue Springs  Friday, Oct. 28 and believes there is a possibility to make playoffs despite the Bruin loss to Blue Springs South. The setback has not doomed the team for failure and is a roadblock that can still be pushed through.
Reaching playoffs would show a great deal of success for the team and prove Rock Bridge’s competence in the highschool football league, Ofodile said.
“It really makes this a long shot to win the district but we still have opportunity to control our own destiny as far as making it to playoffs,” Ofodile said. “It would be a great accomplishment [to make it to playoffs]. By most people’s standards we have one of the tougher schedules in the state so if we would have beat Blue Springs [South], we would finish up 7 and 3 for the playoffs, and I think that would be a great accomplishment for our group.”
