Bruins prepare for championship

Bruins+prepare+for+championship

After winning its first two games at the Troy People’s Bank Tournament, the boys’ basketball team will face Troy Buchanan tomorrow, Dec. 9. The Bruins (4-0) say they are prepared to win the tournament championship.
“We beat [Troy] the first time last year and then lost to them in the final four,” senior forward Skylar Miller said. “If we play our game right then we can easily on Friday.”
Unlike the game yesterday, Dec. 7 against Elsberry, the Bruins plan on playing with patience and improving its teamwork.  Although the RBHS captured the win, 67-56, sophomore guard Nick Norton is ready for the Bruins to step their game up for the championship.
“We had a lead up to 20 in the first half. Our shot selection was poor the second half,” Norton said. “We were rushing shots, and we weren’t playing calm. We let them back in the game, but we took care of the ball late in the fourth and came out with a win.”
Despite the close second half, the team is preparing to play more carefully and quickly against Troy. With a solid record, the boys focus on their confidence to secure the championship.
“We are going to have to play more as a team to win this championship,” Norton said. “We have a very good team this year, and I don’t doubt us one bit.”
