Only having lost one game all season, the junior varsity boys’ basketball team had to work yesterday to keep the number of its  losses to one at St. Dominic Sophomore Tournament.
After their battle against Francis Howell, they had succeeded, pulling down a 56-40 victory.
“It was a good game,” sophomore Zach Rueter said. “We all hustled down the court and did what we needed to do for success.”
For Rueter and the rest of the Bruins, success came because of fortitude in practice running through techniques and skills the team struggles with to better improve their game.
Rueter said the team routinely drills after school to prepare for upcoming games. They spend hours on exercises to preform better in the game.
“We’ve been practicing getting the ball down the court and rebounds,” Rueter said. “We did a good job of that during the game.”
Rueter said the Bruins played well, admitting that teamwork plays a key role in their achievements. Rueter identified  working together as the driving  force the team uses to win so many of their games. When Rueter said his teammates performed extremely well, but also pleased with how he played personally in the game. He thought the team played their roles well and was pleased with his performance.
“Personally, I think I did good,” Rueter said. “I made good shots and rebounds. My game was on as a post, which is what I play, and I had a good game overall.”
