The Henley Aquatic Center of Independence, Mo., has been the site of many intense athletic exhibitions. On Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6 -7, the Truman Invitational Tournament took place in this echoing arena.
Both the RBHS  junior and the varsity swimmers and divers competed against the 26 teams at this invitational. After two days of grueling competition, the Bruin marine squad beat out 21 other high schools and placed fifth overall.
The Staley Falcons of Kansas City placed first.
“The competition was fierce,” senior Blake Ward said. “There were a lot of really good swimmers out there, but [we were] competing as tough as ever. Everyone went out there and had at least one solid event.”
The Bruin swimming team competes against Parkway Central, St. Louis University and cross-town rivals Hickman High School on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Hickman Aquatic Center.
