RBHS seniors Rajesh Satpathy and Nidhi Khurana competed as a team in the Physics category, while teammates seniors Katelyn Race and Atreyo Ghosh participated in the Chemistry category. These RBHS competitors were confident going into the competition as they had already presented similar research at the Siemen’s Science Competition, where both groups received very high honors.
It was an incredibly successful day for the two RBHS research groups — both teams placed first in their respective research paper category, allowing them to move on to the oral presentation round. Satpathy and Khurana were also selected to the finals in a separate poster presentation competition for their physics research.
While neither team advanced to state in the oral presentation category, Satpathy and Khurana won the poster presentation competition, qualifying them for nationals. In nationals, they will compete against all of the top junior research tandems from all around the country. Yesterday’s accomplishments add to the numerous RBHS academic competition accomplishments this year and present even more opportunities for success at the national level.
Overall, RBHS had a very successful showing at the symposium. With one national qualifying research team, and two first place finishes in their individual divisions, it was a performance that the research teams are very proud of.
“Every Rock Bridge team that was selected for the top oral presentations won their division, and Nidhi and Raj were selected to go to the finals with their poster,” Race said. “It’s just about the best feeling in the world, especially being able to go through it alongside my colleagues who have become my great friends.”
