We know that you’ve been anxiously awaiting the Key Club blog, so here it is. We’ll update this blog regularly to give you guys info on upcoming meetings and events, as well as pictures and recaps of Key Club activity in the community. New blog posts will be shared on Twitter, but you can also access the Key Club blog through the “club blogs” page on bearingnews.org.
Monday night was the first Challenger League game of the fall season. For those who don’t know, Challenger League is a baseball league for kids with physical or intellectual disabilities, which makes it hard for them to play on their own. Key Club members volunteer to be “player buddies” and encourage the kids, help them bat and run the bases, etc. Since Key Club hadn’t officially met yet, we only had four members go out for the first game, but we’re hoping to have more in the coming weeks! Games are every Monday night at 6:00 P.M. at the Daniel Boone fields on Scott Blvd., so if you and a friend are interested, contact any Key Club officer (Nate Horvit or Jacob Winton) for more details.
Tuesday morning marked our first Key Club meeting of 2013, which yielded an amazing head count of 97 Bruins. It was by FAR our biggest Key Club meeting ever, and it meant a lot to us that so many people showed up to learn more about the club and make cards for cancer patients and wounded veterans. We meet every other Tuesday morning at 8:15 in the PAC, and the next meeting will be Tuesday, September 10. We hope to see as many, if not more, of you all there!
