Girls’ golf continues to dominate

The girls on the Bruin girls golf team shined once again on the afternoon of Sept. 18 in a match against Hickman and Battle High School.  After a well-fought match at the Lake of the Woods golf course, the Bruins marked yet another victory for the season.

As part of the team, senior Amanda Baker was exceptionally proud of the hard work she and her teammates put in to win the match. Although the team was not expecting it to be their hardest match of the season, they were still proud of the effort they put in to win.

“The team did very good today. We expected to do well since it is our home course, and we did,” Baker said. “I’m happy with my team because I know that each day we are all getting better, and today proved that.”

Since this will be Baker’s last year on the Bruin girls golf team, she has already set goals for herself to see how much she can achieve before the season is over. She hopes to see her team finish with a fluorish and to see all her hard work pay off.

“I just really hope I can play to my full potential in the upcoming tournaments and matches because we are approaching the end of the season, and it is my senior year,” Baker said. “I want to end on a good note and this is when it all starts to matter.

The team is already preparing for districts, which will be held from Oct. 7 through Oct. 9. Baker is optimistic that although they have room for improvement, they will be able to overcome any obstacles the team faces.

“I think there are some things we could all individually work on to prepare for districts. If we all put in an effort and time, we should have no issue,” Baker said. “The varsity squad all gets along well and I think that plays a big part as well.”
