The girls tennis team continued its dominant run as the girls acquired their 21st straight win of the season on Friday, Oct. 4 against Westminster Christian Academy. They won the match 9-0, with only sophomore Ronnie Farid losing more than three games. RBHS Tennis Coach Ben Loeb believes the team is improving every day, and their progress is reflected in their performance.

“The girls have gotten a lot better over the season,” Loeb said. “We’ve played more aggressively, more confidently, we’ve just grown as a team during our time together.”
Despite their high hopes for state, the Bruins still need to defeat a few more teams during districts to advance to sectionals into Ssate. The girls will play in the District Competition Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11. Team members said they have a chance to win state this year and repeat last year’s results. Loeb said the team is in good shape, even though they need to work on a few minor details.
“We just need to keep being aggressive and confident, along with a little work on our doubles play,” Loeb said. “If we just stay focused and believe in ourselves, we can go a long way, maybe even win State.”
With the close of the season drawing near, the team must keep up their hard work, but they must also look to outside sources to play more tennis. Loeb looks forward to the end of the season since it brings with it all of the team’s accomplishments, but he wishes he could spend more time with the team.
“The team is really great, they’re just a group of really great ladies,” Loeb said. “As much as I am looking forward to State, it means that I’ll have to say goodbye to three on the team for good.”
