The Bruins (15-1) took  the Bethel courts Wednesday without the team’s number one player Rohit Rao, who was out for the match with an illness. His absence was hardly noticed as Rock Bridge dominated Helias 5-0.

Playing in Rao’s number one spot senior Raymond Majors defeated his challenger 6-0 and 6-0.

“It was a great experience for me,” Majors said. “I always enjoy playing number one, and it was a great start for Rock Bridge in the postseason.”

The Bruins also won 6-0 and 6-0 on courts two with freshman Brian Baker, senior Harry Bozoian at three and four with  freshman John Swift. As well as winning on court five with senior Nate Horvit 6-1 and 6-1.

Making only his fourth varsity start was junior Harsh Singh in the 6th spot. After dropping the first game of his match up, Singh won the next 12 to take the two sets necessary for a victory.

“Harsh is 3-0 coming into today, and he has beaten some good players at the six singles spot in some dual meets so I felt very comfortable with him  in,” Bruins head coach Ben loeb said.  “He’s been solid he is very reliable and he has really come on the second half of the year and picked it up.”

The Bruins will be in action again Thursday May 15th as they take on Hickman for the district title at Bethel park. Rock Bridge is 2-0 against the kewpies this year and haven’t dropped a match to them yet. The Bruins will be competing for their 16th consecutive district championship.
