In the autumn of 1621, the Pilgrims and Wampanoag held a feast to celebrate the colony’s first successful harvest. They celebrated these days of thanksgiving as part of their religion. This led a start of new tradition. Today, Thanksgiving has become an annual national holiday marked by religious and a traditional meal including turkey. During this time, people give thanks to the people that they are thankful for.

“I would say I am most thankful for being given such a great opportunity to receive such a good education because I was born in the United States but my family is from a third world country and most children in third world countries, they don’t get to receive an education like I do; at least the ones that live in poverty and the fact that I was born into a family that was lucky enough to be able to move to the United States, even receive a education in Guatemala,” Junior Ana Ramirez said. “I am just so grateful for it because without my education…I just love learning so I just feel grateful to be able to have the chance.” Photo by Devesh Kumar

“I would have to say that I am most thankful for my sister, actually. She has helped me so much with not only going through school but I guess ‘teenagers years’,” Sophomore Kristine Cho said. “She has helped me edit stuff. She has helped me get through emotionally tough times. She is always there with a word of advice. I am just thankful for all the people around me who support me, who are there to like help me.
