Spirit week kicks off

Spirit+week+kicks+off

In celebration of RBHS Homecoming, students dress up for a week known as “Spirit Week.” Each day has a different theme, today’s theme being World Wide Disney TV Day. The homecoming nominees also participated in lunch activities where the queens wrapped the escorts in toilet paper, the goal being to use all of the paper roll before anyone else finishes.

Senior Will Rumpf, a homecoming escort of senior Kelly Wilkerson, said the reason that he enjoys the activities during lunch because it is a way to get each of the candidates involved in the homecoming spirit. Rumpf and Wilkerson dressed up as Carl and Russel from the Disney film Up.

Civics teacher Lacey Hahn dressed up as the parrot from Jake and the Never Land Pirates. She chose this outfit because Skully, the parrot in the show, is her son’s favorite character and the watch the show together every morning. Hahn said her favorite part of this year’s homecoming week is to see the different takes each person has on Disney and all of the genres Disney has a hand in.

Junior Annie Lottes was representing Disney TV by dressing up as Eeyore, the donkey in Disney’s Winnie-the-Pooh. Lottes favorite part of homecoming week is being able to dress up for each of the days.

“I just think it’s really fun,” Lottes said. “You get to come to school wearing a onesie and not be judged for it, it’s pretty awesome.”
