Girls’ basketball demolishes Vashon

Girls basketball demolishes Vashon

On Friday night, the girls’ basketball team did something unheard of in Rock Bridge athletics: winning by 88 points. The Bruins hosted Vashon, coming out on top with a score of 97-9.
Subsequent to the win, sophomore Mary Primus is beyond proud of her team’s pursuit of greatness and not allowing themselves to settle.
“We played really well as a team and our communication was on point,” Primus said. “We made great passes to each other and really looked for the great shot, not just the good one.”
Sophomore Kate Linnemeyer echoes Primus when stressing the importance of communication.
“My favorite part about the game was that everyone ended up scoring and getting a lot of playing time,” Linnemeyer said. “Our teamwork and chemistry really helped us win by so much and I learned that getting strong lead the the beginning of the game will really set the tone for the rest of [the season].”
This win allows the Bruins to advance to 3-1 on the season and Primus is incredibly optimistic about the months to follow.

“I feel great going into the rest of our season because each practice and game we continue to get better and better,” Primus said. “It’s going to be really fun this year. I love my team.”
The Bruins will return to the court Saturday, Dec. 15 to face Nettleton in Waynesville in part of the Route 66 Shootout.
“Our next opponent is going to be a pretty tough team,” Primus said. “Hopefully our scouting report and practices get us prepared and ready go out there again.”

I have not seen them play this year. 97-9 is about as 1 sided as I’ve ever heard of a basketball game.
