Possibly the most exciting part of baking a cake is when the layers get stacked. The cake itself is finally cool enough to add icing to, and the brown outside layer, where the butter has created this delicious outer butter casing, waits impatiently for the cool frosting to come. This step makes my tired day giddy. I start imagining the decorations that will adorn the top of my creation.
