Tragic events trigger lifelong trauma

Whole body trembling, messaging friends through quick texts and nibbling on Cheez-Its, junior Savannah Schnabel did her best to keep calm. Shocked and filled with buzzing nerves, Schnabel watched a tow vehicle drive away with her car, a 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor, hooked on the back.

Empathy, practicality dictate problem-solving

When the news of the Parkland shooting broke, a swarm of support came rushing through social media. Some took to Twitter, expressing how such a tragedy should not have happened once again in the United States. Others brought their sympathy to Instagram, sending their thoughts to the victims and their families.

Second amendment drives national discussion

On April 28, 1996, a man armed with a semiautomatic rifle shot and killed 35 people around Port Arthur in Tasmania, Australia. On Feb. 14, an armed student shot and killed 17 people in Parkland, Fla, United States. In both the countries, the gun laws following the events were drastically different, drawing controversy over the second amendment in the United States.
