Administrators placed Rock Bridge High School and Columbia Area Career Center on an external lock down during fourth hour today as a result of shots fired from a car near the north parking lot at 1:15 p.m. The Providence access road was closed for about an hour but resumed operation before 3 p.m.
A Columbia Police Department news release said eight or nine shots were fired, with two possible cars involved. Multiple persons have been detained.
“There were gun shots over by Angelo’s, and we turned around, and there was nothing there. We waited a couple minutes. There were cars, and and then we came back and there were police officers,” said Hickman senior Ruby McGeehon, who was attending a CACC class at the time.
Faculty members were notified via email and asked to take precaution. No one was hurt, according to a Columbia Police Department press release.
“The kids had various rumors whether there was some danger,” RBHS teacher Deborah Perry said. “But people will talk. … Everything just carried on,” like usual.

The administration didn’t deal with this well. there were kids out of class all over the place. the teachers didnt know what was going on, where as kids were getting texts from everywhere, and knew a lot more.
