Meet sophomore student council candidate Humera Lodhi

Meet sophomore student council candidate Humera Lodhi

Why are you running for Student Council?

I have a ton of great ideas for the school, and I think this would be a great way to get them out there. Plus, I love talking to people and getting to know different people, and I do try interact with everyone, so it would be a good fit for me.

What impact do you hope to make as a Student Council representative?

I want to make sure that everyone’s ideas are being heard. I also want to all the sophomores to have something they really enjoy and are interested in- whether that’s athletics, academics, the arts, dance, pep assemblies- everything.

What qualities do you have that makes you qualified to be a Student Council representative?

I get along well with people and I do well school. I have all A’s. I’m in a few club, and hoping to join a few more. As I said, I try talk to everyone, and I’m not afraid to stand up for my ideas or others.  I try to get things done, work hard and still have fun at the same time.

What are you looking to change in Student Council this year?

I want to keep it going the way it is now, and like I said before, just make sure everyone’s interests are represented.

What is something you would like to see Rock Bridge more involved in?

I like Rock Bridge is involved in athletics.  It be nice to see it equally involved in the arts and academics, if it isn’t already. Also, getting Rock Bridge involved in volunteering or helping locally, nationally and globally. I know they did that last year, especially as specific clubs, so just keeping that up would be great!

What do you think the student body is looking for in a candidate?

The student body is looking for someone that’s willing to speak up for them and represent them. I think the student body wants someone who does their job but isn’t up tight and is still fun to be around.

What activities are you involved in?

Right now I’m an officer in MSU, and I volunteer at Boone Hospital. I’m also planning on joining Global Issues, Young Democrats, and the Harry Potter club when they start up.

What would you consider to be your strengths and weaknesses?

Strengths- I try to talking to as many people as possible, and try not to judge them until I know them. Also, I get things done on time, and work hard in the things I’m interested in, and I try to have as much fun along the way.

Weaknesses- Depending on the situation, I can sometimes talk a lot, and it gets me in trouble with my teachers- some times! Also, I’m a little stubborn and disorganized, although I’m working at getting better at that.

If you were given $1,000 what would you do with it?

If given for self- I guess the right response would be to say I’d invest it all. Truthfully, I’d probably spend part of it on shopping and getting stuff for my friends/family. I would invest/save the rest.

If given for school- You can’t buy a lot of big new things for $1,000. So instead I would spend it on fixing up old stuff/bad bathrooms, and maybe some small new, supplies- like pencils, etc.

What is one thing you want the Rock Bridge student body to know about you?

I’m pretty weird, but I just try to always be nice, and be myself. I like challenging myself, and I’d don’t like being lazy, but to me it’s also important to have fun and enjoy life, especially in high school. I try to implement that into the decisions I make in my daily life.
