Meet sophomore student council candidate Robby Schmidt

Meet sophomore student council candidate Robby Schmidt

Why are you running for Student Council?
I’m running for student council so that I can have many opportunities to help make Rockbridge the best it can be it be.

What impact do you hope to make as a Student Council representative?
I hope to get students more involved in Rock Bridge’s many sports, club and performing arts so that everyone enjoys Rock Bridge and feels like they belong.  In addition I will offer my advice and ideas on any problems that may arise.
What qualities do you have that makes you qualified to be a Student Council representative?
I’m intelligent, responsible, involved, good at problem solving, creative, hardworking and outgoing.  All of these are skills that will allow me to get a unique perspective on problems and solve them efficiently.

What are you looking to change in Student Council this year?
I hope to make everyone at Rockbridge and in the community feel like they belong because everyone deserves the chance to make friends.
What is something you would like to see Rock Bridge more involved in?
I would like Rock Bridge to be more involved in special olympics.  There are many great ways to get involved such as volunteering at events, competing as a unified partner, or cheering on local athletes.
What do you think the student body is looking for in a candidate?
I think the student body is looking for a candidate that can represent them, solve problems and make their year amazing.
What activities are you involved in?
I’m currently involved in soccer and band.  Most likely when they finish in October I will join some clubs.
What would you consider to be your strengths and weaknesses?
My strengths are that I am hardworking and when I put my mind to finding a solution to a problem it happens.  My weakness is that once I start a project I sometimes don’t take others advice even if it is really good.
If you were given $1,000 what would you do with it?
I would probably put it in the bank so that it could gain interest.  Over time I would spend small amounts on projects that are important to me.
What is one thing you want the Rock Bridge Student body to know about you?
One thing I want the student body to know about me is that I attended two Missouri Association of Student Councils state conventions and one National Association of Student Councils conventions.  I have learned a lot from them and have many great ideas that I would like to implement at Rock Bridge.
