Despite best intentions, those trying to fulfill their New Year’s Resolution often encounter obstacles between themselves and their goal, ranging from a lack of motivation to a lack of time. The participants in the New Year’s Resolution Race, in order to combat their personal hindrances, reflect on what could help them fight.

Bearing News asked: What do you wish you had that would help you with your resolution?

It’s really hard to get enough sleep when there’s tons of homework to do and out of school activities and social events.”]

I also wish there were less distractions because it would help me stay focused so I would be less likely to prioritize something trivial over my homework or studying, therefore leading to the great trouble of procrastination.” el_file=””]

It think that would help motivate me much more because I can get really lazy sometimes and not follow through with what I say, and I think having someone in the same boat as me would’ve been great. “][TS-VCSC-Image-Overlay image=”282219″ hover_type=”ts-imagehover-style6″ overlay_handle_color=”#2bb673″ title=”Shray Kumar – 56 points” message=”Time, simply because preparing for college interviews, doing homework and all of that kind of stuff sort of gets in the way of fulfilling my resolution, so having a lot more time to do my resolution would be quite wonderful. I’ve still been managing to do my resolution but without sleeping as much as I would want to.”]

Sydney Magee, senior – 56 points

Resolution: Be more positive and vocalize compliments

I thought this story idea was really cool because it not only inspired the people involved to have a resolution it inspired other people too.
