The south lot parking lot was packed with people and buses at 3 p.m. while three different RB sports teams went off to compete April 4.
The girls soccer team was one of the teams as they headed to Jefferson City to face Helias.

Due to the fear of a storm, varsity was to play first, hoping to beat the bad weather that was bearing down. The Bruins could not weather the fury of the Crusaders, however, and lost the game 3-2.
As the game began, the reminders of previous years lingered. Each year the games went into over time and even penalty kicks to determine a winner.
With a couple quick shots for both teams, it didn’t take long to see both teams were willing to get more physical to help put their team on top.
Senior Anna Allioto scored the first goal of the half on a corner kick serviced by junior Morgan Bumby, causing the girls’ energy high. The next goal came from a break away with senior Carmen Bosseen, where she was able to find the back corner of the goal.
A cross from an outside Helias wing player provided a Helias forward to score Crusader’s first goal. With fewer than 10 minutes to play, Helias scored their second goal when RB was trying to transition out from a corner kick. The game remained tied to close the game.
After two 10-minute overtimes, the game went into penalty kicks. The first kicker was RB senior Brett Fuller, and she made the kick. Although Helias missed their first penalty kick, at the end of each five to kick it was tied yet again. The second round began and Morgan Bumby just missed the left corner. However, this time, the Helias player made her kick, and the Bruins lost the game 2-3.
“It sucks going into PKs. It’s not a real test of soccer but more a test of nerves,” Fuller said. “And tonight, it seemed like the nerves got to us. It sucks, but we have to learn from it and move on.”
As the first drops of rain fell, the junior varsity game began. With a little slow of a start, the girls started to find some rhythm in their first full game of the season.
The Bruins went down a few goals, but on a break away, freshman Katie Cook pushed through and stayed working to bend a shot right past the defense before getting taken out by a Helias defender. The Bruins couldn’t pull it together, and JV ended the night with a 5-0 loss.
