After the last match-up with the Jefferson City Jays during the Rock Bridge Tournament, the Lady Bruins defeated the Jays 72-21. Tonight, Feb. 7, was no different.
The theme for the night was pink-out, but even without the school spirit green and gold, RBHS was still able to come out on top, 62-16.
The game started quickly with the girls taking a quick 12-3 lead. After the first quarter, the Bruins held a comfortable lead of 23-6. Everything was going the Bruins’ way; they had excellent ball movement, good defense and were hitting a high percentage of their shots. At halftime, the game was 43-12.
With an already comfortable lead, the Lady Bruins came back in the third quarter with just as much intensity, tacking on more points and increasing their lead, playing the second half just as well as they did in the first half, with their drive coming from their defeat by Incarnate Word Academy over the weekend.
“Coming off of a tough loss, we made a rule that we can’t lose two games in a row, so that motivated us a lot,” senior Makenzie Scrabal said. “We were all just so excited and pumped up for the game, and it showed on the court.”
