New apps come out daily; sometimes it almost seems by the hour. There are so many to choose from, but here are a few that shouldn’t escape your attention this week.

Puffin Browser

The Puffin Browser is an essential app to any mobile device. The first week of school, I was introduced to this browser in math class. It allows you to go to websites that wouldn’t necessarily work, or would be very slow to load, on tablets and phones. It’s great for Netflix, downloading and just fast loading speed in general. It supports Adobe Flash, so Puffin the app makes your device work even more as a regular computer. I don’t use it as my everyday browser, but anytime I’ve gone to a website that hasn’t loaded right or has taken forever to load, I head right over to Puffin and get things done there. I’ve used it a lot for homework websites and I’d recommend the free version to anyone who has some kind of web device because even if you use it once, it’s worth it.

Available on Google Play and the App Store.

Quizlet

Quizlet is another app I have recently downloaded because of the starting school year. I was recommended this by a few classmates who use it to help study for class. So far, I am really enjoying this app. It allows me to make flash cards without having to use a bunch of time and index cards. I’ve always found that it used to take me such a long time to even make my flash cards that by the end I didn’t even want to study. Quizlet provides you the ability to make your essential cards and keeps it all on one device. The only downside I see to this app is that a lot of the time muscle memory is a big part to studying (a.k.a. writing everything helps) and with a mobile device, you aren’t getting that memory. Besides that, I think it’s a great app for the study-ers that want more time to actually study.

Available on the App Store and Google Play.

The Wolf Among Us

Although I have been focusing on school productivity apps a lot lately, I still check out the games for when I have downtime and want something to do. When I heard about The Wolf Among Us coming out in the App Store, I was super excited. The game is set in a town where different childhood fables live. The one you are controlling is Bigby Wolf a.k.a. the Big Bad Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs. You are following an adventure through different decisions that you make which actually influence future events and plots in the game. You are able to create your own adventure/story based on what you choose. It’s a long game, but it’s almost like you’re watching a movie while playing, which is probably why it’s so interesting to me. The app costs $4.99, so I wouldn’t recommend buying it unless you have looked into it and think you’d really enjoy it. Still, it’s a great price for all that you get from it.
